Jan 17th, 2012 Hello to all and a Happy New Year. I am home for 1 week before I go again. Steve and I are busy getting the Avon store repaired for the new season and it is going to take a while. Irene did a number on it. Steve is also busy planting seeds in the green house and we have been lucky enough to get some brocolli, carrots, spring onions, turnips, and lettuce. However, the last cold snap did the lettuce in. The Island is very quite now and not much traffic at all. The new bridge near Rodanthe is hanging in there. The houses on the sound side just inside Rodanthe are a pitiful site. I bet by summer they will be in the water. I must say that I am not happy about having to buy a beach driving permit. Come Feb the 15th I will have to buy one for my suv at the tune of $150, That price in not in stone yet, but i bet that is going to be the going price. Steve and I are really feeling closed in by everything that is happening down here. And to make matters worst, they can't afford to dredge Oregon Inlet anymore. So the big steel hull boats are not going out to fish, whoa as me, what next. That is were we get most of our fish from. For more information please go to www.islandfreepress.org. We are all doing fine and have not been sick this winter. The weather has been just like spring most of the time. Walking on the beach everyday and enjoying this so called paradise.
